Offering peerless performance through uncompromising engineering, Vertere’s Record Player RG-1 Reference Groove incorporates innumerable carefully-considered design choices that make it supreme among turntables. The RG-1 includes a super precision main bearing and a two-piece non-resonant platter assembly to provide the most silent platform for the arm and the cartridge. The result is the ‘darkest’ background achievable from vinyl, against which every note played and every word sung comes to life.

The main bearing assembly comprises an aerospace-grade phosphor bronze housing, a super-precision tungsten carbide spindle and silicon nitride ball. The housing is machined and finished to the tightest of tolerances, with the bearing spindle sized to ensure the minimum gap possible between the spindle and the housing. The only contact is between the spindle and the precision ball supporting it at the bottom.

The design of the bearing assembly ensures that the ball is housed absolutely central to the spindle. The main bearing is lubricated using Vertere’s proprietary bearing oil, L-1G, which ensures almost perfectly silent running. This lubricating oil is formulated with anti-friction, anti-foaming, water repellent and cooling agents for longevity and best performance..

The unique design features of the main bearing, combined with the highest level of precision and attention to detail is mirrored in every other aspect of Vertere’s Record Player RG-1 Reference Groove.

On the main structure of the record player, the drive engine is a Swiss made synchronous motor. Vertere’s unique self-synchronising system for the motor keeps belt tension constant and also keeps any residual noise away from the platter. An external dedicated motor drive power supply unit, precisely tuned to each individual motor, ensures optimum power to the motor while keeping motor noise to a minimum.

Highest-quality cast acrylic has been chosen as the best material for the plinths of the record player, due to its consistent rigidity and naturally non-resonant properties. The plinths are CNC machined from different thicknesses of cast acrylic to their specific designed shapes and are critically isolated from each other. Isolation is provided by several unique suspension components, where every layer is designed to eliminate certain unwanted movements and vibrations – internal or external. The intricate design of the isolation components combined with the stable acrylic plinth structure provides the best possible platform for the tonearm, cartridge and the platter assembly. The result is an unparalleled and an unforgettable musical experience, every time you play a record on the RG-1.

Features

MAIN BEARING ASSEMBLY
The MG-1 MkII main bearing is directly derived from the SG‐1 utilising exactly the same bearing spindle and ball with a phosphor bronze bearing housing machined using the same precision engineering techniques to our high standards. The materials used and manufacturing to extreme engineering tolerances make the MG-1 MkII main bearing silent, smooth running and second only to the SG-1.
MG‐1 MkII main bearing is lubricated with Vertere proprietary formulated L‐1G record player main bearing oil for ultimate longevity.
RECORD PLAYER MOTOR ASSEMBLY
Directly derived from the RG-1 and SG-1 motor assembly design, the MG-1 MkII utilises double precision bearings fitted to its dedicated Acetal motor platform and motor bearing support. The motor is aligned using three spike pointed screws making the perfect residual vibration coupling of the motor to the platform itself. This unique design keeps the motor continuously synchronous to provide a drive with constant belt tension. Simply put, it drives the platter at constant speed without variation. As a finishing touch is the switchable internal mood lighting.
MAIN PLATTER
MG‐1 MkII platter is a one piece aluminium alloy design based on the SG‐1 platter. Only utilising the same precision machining techniques to our extremely high tolerances ensures the smoothest running of the platter and the required inertia that keeps speed constant. Platter/Record interface is a 3mm bonded cast Acrylic disc as used on the SG‐1.
TEMPO MOTOR DRIVE
It is absolutely critical that the record player motor is powered and controlled faultlessly to ensure a full and musical performance of the record player.
The new Tempo takes control of the record player motor and provides it with smoother drive with lower noise and lower distortion. Its internal circuit as with the reference motor drive is uniquely microprocessor based providing a pure sine wave in the digital domain and then converted to analogue via an on-board DAC. Two waveforms are derived, a cosine and a sine, which are then amplified using two bridged amplifiers to power the motor.
RG-1/SG-1/MG-1 RECORD PLAYER DUST COVER
There is an optional dust cover that fully encloses the MG-1 MkII while aesthetically complimenting the elegant lines and design of the record player.
The main section covering the top, front and the back is a one piece 6mm clear cast acrylic providing support and rigidity with cut-outs for motor drive and tonearm cables. The sides are made from 3mm clear cast acrylic also including hand-grip cut-outs for easy placement and removal of the cover.
A Vertere emblem, laser engraved on the top adds the finishing touch to this elegant and practical record player dust cover.
MG-1 II RECORD PLAYER DUST COVER
There is an optional custom dust cover for the MG-1 MkII that aesthetically compliments the stylish lines and design of the record player.
The main section covering the sides and the top is constructed from a one piece 6mm tinted cast acrylic providing support and rigidity. The open design at the back provides clearance for the protruding motor drive and tonearm cables while the side’s hand-grip cut-outs allow easy placement and removal of the cover.
A Vertere emblem, laser engraved on the top adds the finishing touch to this elegant and practical MG-1 dust cover.

MG-1 MKII MOTOR COVER
The elegant silver anodised MG-1 MkII Motor Cover is machined from solid aluminium alloy. It makes accessibility and placement of the drive belt easy and a delight to use.
The cover also acts as a diffuser for the two illuminating LED lights, within the MG-1 MkII Record Player, complementing its stunning looks.
Simple, elegant, beautiful.
REDLINE CABLE PACKAGE
The MG-1 MkII record player comes packaged with the new Redline tonearm cable and motor link cable for the SG-1 Super Groove Motor Drive MKIII.
The Vertere Redline cable system is derived from Pulse-R interconnect cable and follows the same design principles preserving the essence of the analogue audio signal.
SPECIAL METALLIC FINISHES
Vertere Special Metallic Black, Pearlescent White & Champagne finishes are now available for the SG-1 record player at a premium.
Following in the footsteps of the RG-1, these lustrous, vibrant colours provide perfect alternatives to the original Clear finish of the SG-1.
Clear cast acrylic was carefully selected for SG-1’s plinth material as it provides the most stable and acoustically suitable platform for all its critical components. The specially formulated paint and method of printing of these glistening finishes enhance the aesthetics without any compromise in performance of the SG-1 record player.
The Vertere emblem printed on the top plinth adds the final finishing touch.

Technology

Vertere’s Record Player MG-1 Magic Groove has many critical aspects of its design based on the Vertere SG-1 high performance record player. This has enabled the MG-1 to provide vinyl replay beyond what is possible from its class. Record Player MG-1 will realise the potential of any high quality audio system.
The MG-1 precision main bearing and platter assembly, belt-driven by the SG-1 motor system, ensures smoothest running and provides a stable platform for the tonearm and cartridge. This combination provides an exceptionally wide dynamic range with ‘dark’ background that is only bettered by RG-1 or SG-1 record players.
With its plinth structure and isolation system based on the SG-1, Record Player MG-1 is designed to be maintenance and setup-free.
And the MG-1 with matching SG-1 tonearm and Motor Drive is a delight to use. Even in its standard form, with D-Fi tonearm cable and motor drive cable, the MG-1 provides a performance that is only bettered by the SG-1. However, the upgradability that is built into this class-leading record player elevates its performance, step by step, closer to the SG-1. Upgrade the tonearm and motor drive cables from D-Fi to Pulse-B, to Pulse-R and all the way to Pulse-HB, to realise the true potential of the MG-1. Every step will provide an unparalleled musical experience and enjoyment that is only achievable from a Vertere record player.
Stylish and beautifully crafted with attention to the finest details, this record player is a must-have, and one that lovers of music on vinyl will cherish.
